Ayyadurai studied at Livingston High School in New Jersey, and began working on electronic messaging system for the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey. In 1978, he created a complete copy of the messaging system that would be called "E-mail". He managed to secure copyright in 1982 At that time, copyright was equivalent to a patent, as there was no other way to protect software inventions, reports the Huffington Post.
Thanks to his work, Ayyadurai was awarded the prize as the Science Talent in high school in 1981 original copy of his creation held today at the International Museum of American History. His invention left a very large footprint in the history of communication and technology.
